After 54 years in Lincoln Park, Care for Friends moves to Edgewater

Organization is Focused on the Future

August 3, 2022  (Chicago, IL)

Care For Friends announced today that they have moved out of their Lincoln Park location, where they had been operating for the past 54 years. The building, located at 530 W. Fullerton Parkway, is of Civil War-era, wood framed construction. At present, the original building, which is owned by the Church of our Saviour, is in need of extensive improvements that are typical for a building of its age. In response to these needs, a plan has been developed to demolish the existing program building and construct a new community center on-site!

During the construction phase, Care for Friends will be renting space from the Church of the Atonement in Edgewater.  The move will be temporary, but Care for Friends expects to share space with Atonement until December 2023. The new address is 5749 N. Kenmore Avenue and is easily accessible via public transportation.

Executive Director Hope Pavich explains that Care For Friends will continue to emphasize providing “more than a meal” - using their lunchtime gatherings as an opportunity to connect guests with medical care, job skills training, grocery support, and housing assistance with no questions asked.

“The impact of COVID-19 and skyrocketing inflation has created an economic crisis and our guests are straining all their available resources. We are here to help bridge the gap for our community in Lincoln Park, and now also in Edgewater. We are thrilled to be a part of this vibrant neighborhood and invite our new neighbors to join us for a meal- and more!” said Pavich.
