Sleepout For Homelessness

At Care For Friends, we are connecting Chicago's most vulnerable with the resources they need to achieve a better quality of life.  Last year:

  • 50% of homeless who achieved permanent housing at our partner organization were first met at a Care For Friends meal.

  • Graduates of our education and job skills training partner program earned an average of $12.34/hour for 38 hours of work in jobs that lasted at least a year

  • Over 50% of guests seen in our health clinic now have a permanent medical home.

  • We launched an after-school program for 300 homeless youth who want to go to college - and partnered with DePaul University with the target of getting three enrolled next fall.

Our Sleepout for Homelessness helps support this long tradition of creating change in Chicago.

Sleeping outside in a tent on a brisk February night sounds like a big deal (and comes with great bragging rights).  But we've made it easy by providing you with a tent, multiple campfires, and a hot beverages break (with smores!) in the middle of the night.  We also have indoor heated bathrooms and indoor warming spaces available as a nice amenity.

There are other, less challenging ways to participate - including a sleep at home option!

You'll get your own personal fundraising website, and a pre-packaged fundraising kit with email templates, photos and videos to help you reach your goal as well.

Still not sure it's for you? We've asked a veteran sleeper to address all of the most common questions and conerns we've heard. Check out the answers on his Pro Tips Q&A page.

And if this all still doesn't feel right - never fear! You can still support the team by clicking the big orange "Donate to Sleepout" button at the top of this page.

We are also happy to send a personalized invitation to anyone else you think should sleep out, or have you review volunteering opportunities to support the event.

Want to be a corporate sponsor? We've got that, too.
